Stefon Harris

  • Educator, vibraphonist and composer Stefon Harris is the Jazz Education Advisor at NJPAC. His passion and artistry explores the rich heritage of jazz through cultural connections and composition. This interactive concert includes jazz standards and original compositions.

Women and the World: A Poetic Herstory

  • Grades: 5-12

  • This coming ofage journey led by Sheikia Norris explores how girls must sort through societal messages in the quest to hear their own voice. Three young women locked in a school amphitheater reflect and challenge each other
    through monologue, poetic dialogues and spoken word duals celebrating women and self-expression.

Dance Therapy

  • Choreographed by acclaimed tap dancer, Maurice Chestnut, Dance Therapy fuses the worlds of tap and modern dance to explore the impact gun violence has on families and the greater community spirit. This high energy
    and thoughtful assembly, inspired by a true story, displays dance at the forefront of healing when a community is confronted with tragedy.

  • Travel with Carly on a visit to the rock garden that reveals that it’s always cool to do the right thing because CHARACTER ROCKS! This highly-interactive assembly program will have your students clapping, singing, moving and
    learning about the components of good character, such as respect, integrity, compassion and citizenship as outlined in the core curriculum.

Carolyn Dorfman Dance in Dance Stories

From Jazz to Hip Hop: Featuring the Mark Gross Quartet and DJ Mike

  • Go on a musical journey through history from Bebop-n-Swing to today’s modern hip hop scene with the Mark Gross Quartet and DJ Mike Dolo. Learn the language, rhythms and cultural significance of two of America’s greatest musical exports - jazz and hip hop.

It's Showtime- A History of the Musical

  • Grades: 4-8

  • Back-to-Back Performance: 2,700
  • In music appreciation class, two classmates are opposed to learning about a new genre of music, but as they dive into a box of old artifacts, they are pleasantly surprised how much they enjoy learning about Musical Theater. This interactive performance takes audiences on a journey through the history of the American Musical from 1927 to 2016.
